The Middle - Musings From Sarah Barnhart

My sweet friend @phoebetay.lor created the most beautifully simple yet profound oracle card deck and two out of two times I have pulled the same card. Like a theme for my existence, I pulled a card that simply states The Middle. This card moved me to tears. I was reminded that all things in my life exists on a spectrum. My identity as a biracial person. My queer identity. My experience with motherhood. Even the movement practices I am forever grateful to have the opportunity to offer, exist in the middle and are therefore challenging to name. And yet the middle can, and has often been, the place where things become invisible, disappear or get overlooked. The middle is a beautifully challenging place to exist, to never feel fully comfortable or seen. To be floating. To know I am enough but/and never know where I fit. I am reminded that despite it all, I will keep moving forward because I am right in the middle of the unfolding of my life. That for me, everything exists in the middle. I am always all of the things. Right in The Middle.
