What Will He Say When He Comes? - Poetry by Marcel Monroy
Baring beneath, Bearing before
Something is sitting
Just beneath the surface
Baring witness
Walking by sight
Going Godspeed
Something is sacred
Just before the sacrifice
Bearing fruit
By Lilith’s light
Biblicalliborne
Pastor
he bore a cross
across his chest
and kept the rest
buried beneath
his bed the bible
below his belt
and wore a black
silk back rabat
white tab collar
with rosary wrist
under the rood
christening twist
Written in the Margin (2019)
Pervert my ends
Show up as the serpent
In the sheep’s mouth
My fleece is for the shepherd
Take it good again
Feed the flock rotten fruit
Make it good again
Bring it to the garden
