By Naiobi Benjamin
Who To Read Now
This novel is about a character named Queenie Jenkins who is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman who lives in London. She straddles two cultures and slots neatly into neither. After a messy break up Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places. And as she goes to one questionable decision to another, she finds herself wondering “What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Who do you want to be?”—all of the questions today’s woman must face in a world trying to answer them for her. Queenie is a relatable exploration of what it is to be a modern woman in today's world.
